Tree root waste is typically dense, fibrous, and bulky, often with soil or stone attached. It can vary greatly in size—from small garden shrubs to large stump systems—and may require mechanical processing. Although organic, roots need more specialised handling than softer green waste due to their toughness and potential contamination.

Tree roots can be delivered directly to our licensed green waste facility or collected from site. Once received, they are processed separately from lighter green waste due to their density, ensuring appropriate treatment or recycling. We recommend keeping tree roots free of heavy soil or rubble to make disposal more efficient and cost-effective.

Yes, we offer collection services for tree roots and other bulky green waste using skips or grab lorries. Whether you’re a landscaper, tree surgeon, or tackling a domestic garden project, we can arrange an efficient collection to suit your needs.

Once tipped at our facility, tree roots are inspected and sorted to remove contaminants like stones, soil, or non-organic materials. They are then shredded and sent for composting or biomass energy production, depending on their condition and size. This helps ensure sustainable reuse rather than unnecessary disposal.
