Dear Customer,
Subject: Implementation of New Simpler Recycling Regulations
We’re informing you about the new DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) Simpler Recycling Regulations impacting English businesses with over 10 full time employees, effective 31st March 2025.
Key regulatory changes under the new regime:
Under these regulations, all businesses are required to separate recycling and food waste from their general waste. From 31st March 2025, the following waste streams must be collected separately:
- Food Waste (including packaged items)
- Glass Waste (e.g., bottles and jars)
- Dry Mixed Recyclables (DMR – paper, cardboard, plastics, cans, tins)
- General Waste (non-recyclable)
Immediate steps to take:
- Review your current waste disposal practices. If you’re already segregating waste as required, no further action is needed.
- If you’re co-disposing specified segregates in general waste bins, begin implementing separation procedures.
- Should you need to act to comply with the new regulations, reach out to our team to find the appropriate bin sizes for your specific waste streams.
Wheelie bin options:
| 1100L Bin | 660L Bin | 360L Bin | 240L Bin | |
| Food Waste | No | No | No | Yes |
| Glass Waste | No | No | No | Yes |
| DMR | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |

Good News! Separating food, glass, and DMR from your General Waste can save your business money.
